Introduction

Hey, my name is Samantha Martinson. I am going into my Junior year at the University of Northwestern, St. Paul. I am an Elementary Education major with what is called a C.A.L.E emphasis, which stands for communication, arts, literature, and enlgish. I decided to go into Education because I have a language disorder, meaning I struggle with communication, comprehension, and formulating ideas into words. Throughout Elementary School I was “looked over” by almost every teacher I had. I want to go into teaching and give every student the same opportunity no matter how that student may learn, and help those students who are slower in comprehension. Image

Since I am in college I still live at home here in Minnesota. I live with my mom, dad, sister Savannah (16), and brother Wyatt (14). We have three pets, two dogs and one rat. We have a boxer named Zeek and a Rottweiler named Xena. The rat is my sister’s, and in all honesty I have no idea what his name is.Image

I have a boyfriend (Noah) of almost three years, come December 13th. We were Elementary crushes back in fifth grade, which was rekindled in High School. He finally asked me out in the middle of our Senior year, and we’ve been together ever since. He is a graphic designer over at the University of Minnesota, and is also going into his Junior year. Image

Now last subject for this entry is the reason why I decided to create a blog, which surprisingly wasn’t just for a personal reason, but I also have my own photography business. It is called Through the Lens Photography, and it focuses on portraits, events, couples, and nature. I’ve been trying to get more attention to it as it is now a legal business, and this blog will be about my photos for the most part. I’ve been doing photography since I was 10. I started out with film; my dad sadly raised me on black and white film, so I have an obsession with black and white photos. When I was 13 I switched to doing photos digitally. I loved doing photos of people, things, and animals, but what I was most fascinated by was the details of God’s creation I could capture with my camera that would go unnoticed every day. Image

So, this is me…
